It was theologian Emil Brunner who famously said, “The church exists
by mission as fire exists by burning.” The church is not the church if it is
not participating with God in the transformation of the world. We have
adopted the term, “integral mission,” to convey our conviction that
God’s agenda in Christ has been to redeem the whole of creation and
everyone in it. We bear witness to this good news—the gospel of the
kingdom of God—in word, deed, and life, engaging in: 1) evangelism,
sharing the redemptive story of Christ to any and all; 2) social
ministries, demonstrating the compassion, justice, righteousness and
peace of the kingdom in the public square; and 3) stewardship, caring
for all of God’s resources entrusted to us, from coins to creation.

Every Saturday we have the joy of joining in the heart of Jesus by distributing food from the SF Marin food bank to folks in our neighborhood who are experiencing food scarcity. In a city of abundance, there is no reason why anyone should not have enough to eat!

    Loops Of Love

“Loops of Love” is a ministry that serves the vulnerable in San Francisco with gifts of warmth and comfort. Many gifts are handmade by folks in our congregation. We have had opportunities to visit residents at the Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and deliver cozy blankets, colorful hats, and cuddly stuffed animals. We are blessed to be the hands and feet of Jesus to offer a bit of joy and comfort and receive big smiles from these beloved ones. We are making plans to serve the unhoused in our community, especially during the cold months.

    Rise University Preparatory

Rise Prep is a school built on solid ground. The numerous challenges faced by schools in low-income urban areas are deeply entrenched. Most struggle to simply survive, much less thrive. With the generous support of donors who see education as a cornerstone of positive transformation and community members who share our vision, Rise Prep has built a stable, effective model that is already changing lives.

    Oriented to Love

Oriented to Love is a dialogue program of Christians for Social Action. Oriented to Love provides space to wrestle honestly, and in community, with challenging questions - matters that may seem academic for some, but for others can mean the difference between Christian community and isolation/loss of faith, sometimes even between life and death.
